Difference between analog signal and digital signal

Difference between analog signal and digital signal

Analog and digital signals are used to transmit information usually through electric signals. In both these systems, the information like audio, video or document, is transfer into electric signals. The technical difference between analogue and digital signal is that:-

Difference between analog signal and digital signal

In analog technology, information or files is transmitted into electric pulse of varying in amplitude. In digital technology, transmission of information is into binary format where each bit is representative of two definite amplitude ( zero or one).

Comparison of analog and digital signal:-

The comparison of analog and digital signal in following point:-

1. Analog signal is a continuous signal which varying with respect to the time. Digital signal is a discrete or discontinue value.

2. Analog signal is manipulate it's value with respect to time, but digital signal is a combination of manipulate physical quantity.

3. The impedence of analog signal is low but in digital impedence is high.

4. An analog system required large power at low cost. But, in digital system case it's drawn negligible power at high cost.

5. Analog signal is used by human voice, in all the physical quantity like pressure, speed, etc. Now, digital signal is used in CDs, DVDs, and many other electronic devices.

6. The bandwidth of analog signal is less then digital signal.

7. Analog signal is stored by wave form signal, but digital signal is stored in the form of binary bits.

8. Digital signal are less effected by noise and distortion as compared to analog signal.

9. Digital circuit are reliable then analog circuit.
