Why do we use AC supply in our homes?

Why do we use AC supply in our homes?

AC is stand for alternative current. It's means that the polarity of current is change with respect to time. In other words, we can also define that the alternative current is a current which alternate or fluctuating with respect to time. When time changes the direction and magnitude of the alternative current is Change.

According to our questions, that why do we use AC supply in our homes?

The simplest answer of this question is "the generation and transmission of alternative current is easily and cheaper then direct current". Let us study in details that how it's happen.

Why do we use AC supply in our homes?

Generation:-

The device which generate alternative current is known as alternative current generator. And, the device which is used to generate or produce direct current is known as direct current generator.

The basic difference between AC generator and DC generator is a mechnical device named 'commutator'. A commutator is also known as split ring which is used to convert AC into DC in the generator and DC to AC in the motor.

The generation of DC as compared to AC is very expensive due to using of homo polar generator. In the homo polar DC generator, there are using four different permanent magnet so it's production is very expensive.

Transmission of current:-

An alternative current is easily to step up and step down with the help of transformer. But direct current is not step up and down in transformer.

The loss in the DC is more as compared to AC. So, it is easily to transmit AC to long distance.

Conclusion:-

Due to the alots of direct current disadvantage as compared to alternating current. So, AC or alternating current used in our home.
