Advantage and disadvantage of hydropower plant

 The power plant which produce electricity by the flowing of water to rotate turbine is called hydropower plant. The electricity is which are produce by hydropower plant is called hydroelectricity.

Advantage of hydropower plant:-

1. The production of electricity from the flowing water does not produce any pollution. In this type of power plant there is no burning like nuclear power plant. Here, flow water turn turbine, due to rotation of turn the turbine the shaft of generator rotate. So, the generator produce electricity. 

2. There is no waste of source in this power plant. The main requirement of this power plant is flowing water which is the renewable source of energy which will be never exhausted. 

3. The running or operating and maintenance cost of hydro power plant are low.

4. No waste material produced in this type of power plant. 

5. There is long lifetime of generating power plant. 

6. The construction of dam on river help us to control flood and irrigation system. 

7. Constant generating electricity.

8. If we have requirement then we can generate electricity from hydro power plant if not then we can not doing generate this phenomena is called flexibility of hydro power plant.

of hydropower plant:-

1. large amount of land required to install hydro power plant system. 

2. The  dams are very expensive to build. In other words, the construction cost of dam is very high or expensive.

3. The fish in the down steam area not get sufficient nutrition material due to which the production of fish decreases rapidly. 

4. The quality and quantity of water decreases when water exit from power plant.

5. Available water and its temperature may be affected from this. 

6. The construction of large dam causes the geological damage. For example, the building of Hoover dam in USA, causes of lots of earthquake in their local area. 

7. It's may be cause drought.

8. Floods in local area.
